FELLOWSHIP OF RECONCILIATION (FOR) PEACE PRESENCE AND IFOR AUSTRIA PRESENT
PEACEBUILDING IN THE TIME OF AGREEMENTS
INTERNATIONAL DELEGATION TO COLOMBIA, SEPTEMBER 11 – 21, 2017
In December 2016 the Colombian Government and the FARC guerillas signed an historic agreement to end the armed conflict. Since then, negotiations with the country’s other guerrillas, ELN, have begun in Quito. But threats against human rights’ defenders and local peacebuilders – those who really know what peace could look like in their regions – persist. Join us as we visit communities and leaders across the country, and see what grassroots peacebuilding looks like even as the official agreements are implemented.
WHAT TO EXPECT: three days in Bogotá, visiting FOR partners, politicians and embassies: a trip to the Nilo farming community next to the country’s largest military base; access to the Humanitarian Space of Puente Nayero in Buenaventura and meeting representatives of social movements in Popayan, Cauca.
Cost: 1.200 euros or $1.300 USD: Delegation fee includes: meals, lodging, delegation interpreters and facilitators, transportation within Colombia, delegation set-up, and reading materials. Airfare to and fro Colombia is not included.
