2025 Annual Report: Defending Land, Life, and Communities

As we reflect on 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the courage and resilience shown by communities across Colombia. Throughout the year, FOR Peace Presence stood beside those facing threats, displacement, and violence as they defended human rights, land, and the environment. Our work continues to be guided by a deep commitment to nonviolent change.

This year, we were fortunate to welcome three dedicated volunteer accompaniers—Pete Hämmerle, Siena Mann, and Erin Blyth—who joined our team alongside Michaela Soellinger, Maru Riascos, and Enrique Chimonja. Together, we accompanied communities in San José de Apartadó, Buenaventura, Palestina (Huila), Putumayo, and Blanquita-Murrí. Alongside our partners, we supported collective protection processes, organized workshops on security, peace, and reconciliation, and helped facilitate initiatives such as the Agro-Ecology School for youth.

Our partners continue to inspire us with their commitment to nonviolence and peacebuilding, demonstrating vital leadership for Colombia. At the same time, significant challenges remain. Human rights defenders continue to face serious risks, particularly those protecting land and rural territories.

In the pages that follow, we share some of the key moments and challenges of 2025 as we continued accompanying Comunidades Construyendo Paz en Colombia (CONPAZCOL) and other allied communities.

Our work is grounded in three strategic pillars: Territorial Defense and Environmental Protection, Transitional Justice and Collective Protection, and Human Rights and Political Advocacy. Together, they reflect our commitment to a community-led vision of peace—one that is essential for building lasting and sustainable peace in Colombia.

We could not do this work without you. Thank you for standing with us. Your support makes our work possible, and together we can continue supporting communities working toward a more peaceful Colombia.
