Where Peace Is Growing
Blanquita-Murrà — Youth Leading Agroecology & Food Sovereignty
In the rural mountains of MurrĂ, young people wake before dawn and walk hours to attend hands-on workshops at the Agro-Ecology School, a community-led project supported by CONPAZCOL and FOR Peace Presence.
Here, students learn to protect native seeds, tend sustainable gardens, care for fish ponds, monitor water temperature, study biodiversity, and build local food systems based on ancestral knowledge.
These gardens are more than crops—they are acts of resistance, resilience, and hope.
Buenaventura — Organizing for Justice, Dignity, and Rights
On Colombia’s Pacific Coast, communities living amidst port expansion, environmental damage, and high displacement are organizing for basic human rights—food security, water, housing, and opportunity.
We accompany local organizations as they build collective power and work toward justice and dignity.
San José de Apartadó — Defending Land through Nonviolence
In the remote valleys of the Peace Community, families continue to resist violence through collective governance, cacao farming, agroforestry, and deep commitments to nonviolence.
Our presence helps ensure they can carry out this work safely as they rebuild lives on their land.
Why Your Support Matters
Colombia remains one of the most dangerous countries in the world for land, environmental, and human rights defenders. In 2024, 48 environmental defenders were killed, and since 2016 more than 1,200 social leaders have been assassinated. Many of the communities we accompany continue to face threats, surveillance, displacement, and violence.
